Service and Support

We strive to make it as easy as possible for our customers to find the information they need regarding our high-quality electric motors. Please click on the frequently asked questions below to review the answers. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

McMillan provides a two-year motor warranty from date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is printed on the motor label.

The warranty covers motors against defects in workmanship or materials, assuming the motors are operated under normal conditions, and in accordance with nameplate limits. Under no circumstances will McMillan be responsible for any expense in connection with repairs made by anyone other than authorized McMillan staff, unless such repairs were pre-authorized in writing.

Requests to return good, unused motors must be requested within 30 days of purchase, and be received at McMillan within 45 days of purchase. A return authorization must be requested. Good motors are subject to a 25% restocking fee, and shipping charges are non-refundable. The customer must pay return shipping, and the motor must be packaged so that no damage occurs during transit. The motor must be received in new, unused, undamaged condition to receive a refund.

If a replacement motor is needed at the time of the request, it must be purchased at McMillanElectric.com. Once the defective motor is returned and found to be within our warranty policy (as stated below), McMillan will, at its option; repair, replace or issue a refund. Complete, unaltered motors must be returned to McMillan Electric Company for analysis in order to receive credit. The motor evaluation takes approximately two weeks from date of receipt. Any expedited costs are to be paid by the customer.

To request a return authorization, follow the steps below.

  1. Contact Customer Service via phone at 715-698-7119 or email us at
customer_service@mcmillanelectric.com to report the claim and establish next steps.
  2. Be prepared to supply the following items:
    a. What McMillan model number(s) and quantity of motors are in question?
    b. What date codes are listed on the motor label(s)? Are they within the warranty period?
    c. What application are the motors used in?
    d. What are the suspected defects or what happened that is prompting the motor to be returned?                                            Please be as detailed as possible.
  3. If Customer Service agrees the claim may be a warranty issue, the request along with the proof of purchase will be forwarded to the Quality Department to issue a RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. The RGA will provide directions regarding return transportation, documentation, and labeling procedures. The following items must be included:
    a. The RGA number must be written on all returned boxes and associated documentation.
    b. The motor(s) must be properly packed for shipment. We do not warranty motors damaged due to
    improper return packing.
  4. McMillan will pay for ground shipping on all authorized, warranty related claims, using our carrier only.

The motor warranty will be voided and no credit will be given under the following conditions:
a. Returned motors that have clearly been disassembled, dropped, misused or are damaged to the point they cannot be inspected.
b. Returned motors with “Open Fuses” or that have been “Over Voltage”.
c. Returned motors found to be “Good Motors” after complete electrical and mechanical diagnostics. Good motors can be returned to the customer if requested, at the customer’s expense.
d. Returned motors that were not purchased directly from McMillan Electric Company.
